Staying
Healthy and Safe this Christmas
Dear Members
Welcome to
the final Lysaght Peoplecare Newsflash for 2005. It has been an
exciting year for us and as the holiday season edges closer we would
like to take the opportunity to thank all our members and wish them
a safe and healthy holiday season.
In this final
edition we hope to bring you some valuable resources to help you
stay safe and healthy during the Christmas period. Although this
is traditionally a time for celebrations, festivities, families
and friends, it is also a time when many of us forget about the
hidden dangers of the holiday period.
During the
holiday period many of us will travel across Australia or around
the world, will spend time out in the sun or in the water, and over
indulge in food and alcohol. The good news is that many of us will
get through the holidays with a few extra kilos, a burnt nose and
maybe a sore head, but there are lots of things we can do to help
keep ourselves healthy and safe for the New Year ahead.
Travel
For many
Australians, the holiday period is the perfect opportunity to travel.
But before you embark on your trip, here is some essential reading
to help you and your family stay safe. Immunisations you might need,
travelling with children and many more.

Food
Its that
time of year again when family and friends get together and enjoy
food, food and more food. Parties, barbeques, special dinners and
celebrations all mean one thing. Too much of everything..... Too
much sugar, meat, alcohol, and high fat foods can all lead to serious
health problems. Here are some tips to avoid those extra kilos and
keep your health intact this Christmas.

Alcohol
Too much of anything can
be a bad thing and many of us over the holidays will get carried
away with the Christmas spirit. Taking it too far though can leave
you with more than just a sore head.

Time in the Sun
Time in the sun can do irreversible
damage to your skin, not to mention increasing your risk of developing
skin cancer. This holiday you can minimise the risk associated with
prolonged exposure to the sun by following some simple rules.
