Extras

We quickly answer the basics about annual limits, how long back you can claim extras items, pharmacy claims and more.

Peoplecare uses the Australian financial year (1 July to 30 June) for annual limits.

This means that the year ends 30 June and annual extras limits reset 1 July every year.

You can check your extras limits on the Peoplecare mobile app under the ‘Benefit limits’ section. You can also call us on 1800 808 690.

You can claim extras services from up to two years ago if you had cover and had served your waiting periods at the time of the service date. Simply send us a photo of the receipt on the Peoplecare mobile app or use one of the other ways to claim extras.

Please call us on 1800 808 690.

Most stores will allow you to walk in and buy your new glasses if you already have a prescription.

Rate Rise 1 April 2026

For members on OSHC Extras moving to Simple Extras, changes to your premium are effective 1 July 2026.

If I have OSHC Extras, what additional services will I now have with Simple Extras?
Simple Extras includes additional services that were not previously part of your cover: ambulance, pharmacy, occupational therapy, orthoptics, hydrotherapy, and health management programs.

If I have OSHC Extras, what benefits will increase for me with Simple Extras?
Your benefits will increase for glasses and contact lenses, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, chiropractic and osteopathy.

If I have OSHC Extras, what annual limits will decrease for me with Simple Extras?

Under Simple Extras, your annual limits for physiotherapy, exercise physiology, chiropractic and osteopathic will decrease from $350 per person to $300 per person. However, under Simple Extras Chiropractic and Osteopathic services have their own annual limit, separate to Physiotherapy, which is also $300 per person.

If I have OSHC Extras, do I need to serve waiting periods again when I transfer to my new cover?
OSHC Extras is closed and no longer available.

When you move to your new cover, you won’t need to re-serve any waiting periods that you have already served for services with the same benefit or annual limit. However, you'll be required to serve the remainder of any waiting periods if you're still within the waiting periods for that service. For all new services, waiting periods will apply.

If Simple Extras offers a higher benefit than OSHC Extras, we’ll continue to pay the OSHC Extras benefit during any waiting period that applies. Any claims made while you were covered under OSHC Extras will also be paid at the OSHC Extras benefit level.

If I have OSHC Extras and am undertaking a course of treatment, what happens when I transfer to my new cover?

If you’re currently partway through a course of treatment that may change due to this update to your cover, we may be able to put transitional arrangements in place so you can continue your treatment as planned. Please contact us to speak with one of our health cover experts for more information.

What if I have been moved to a new cover and I prefer another product?
We want you to be happy with your cover. If you would like to discuss cover options with one of our health care experts, please call us on 1800 808 690. Or visit peoplecare.com.au/help-me-choose/
